The Quilter’s Bias Binding Wizard calculates fabric yardage for that "square tube". It assumes 40” usable fabric width and 1/4” seams. Odd yardage results have been rounded up to the next 1/8 yard.

The mathematical assumptions are clearly described on each wizard. All you have to do is look up the length of the binding and the cut strip width you plan to use. The fabric requirements are displayed in the small window.
